Introduction

Brass compression fittings create a leak-proof connection without soldering, welding, or specialist tools. A compression nut and ferrule (olive) are tightened onto the pipe, deforming the ferrule slightly to form a gas- and liquid-tight seal. Fenglan brass compression fittings are forged from dezincification-resistant DZR brass (CW602N / CW617N) and finished to EN 1254-2 or BS 864 standards.   • A: Slide the compression nut onto the pipe first, then the ferrule (olive), then insert the pipe fully into the fitting body. Hand-tighten the nut, then apply a further 1.25 to 1.5 turns with a spanner. Do not over-tighten, as this can damage the ferrule and cause leaks.
  • Q: Can a compression fitting be reused after removal?
  • A: The fitting body and nut are reusable, but the ferrule permanently deforms onto the pipe during initial assembly. Always replace the ferrule when re-making a joint. Replacement ferrule packs are available from Fenglan.
