Metal Junction Box Overview

A metal junction box is a steel or stainless steel electrical enclosure designed for environments where mechanical strength, EMI shielding, and fire resistance are priorities. Unlike plastic enclosures, metal boxes resist impact, crushing, and rodent damage, making them the preferred choice for industrial plants, data centers, mining sites, and any location where a plastic enclosure would be at risk.

Our metal junction boxes are available in mild steel (powder-coated), 304 stainless steel, and 316 stainless steel, with IP ratings from IP54 to IP66. All units ship with a removable back plate for easy terminal strip installation and are pre-drilled for surface or pole mounting.

Payment & Shipping

We accept T/T (bank transfer), L/C at sight, PayPal (samples), and Western Union. A 30% deposit is required to confirm production, with the balance paid before shipment.

Standard lead time is 7–15 business days for regular orders; prototype samples ship within 3–5 days. We ship worldwide via DHL, FedEx, UPS, sea freight (FCL/LCL), and air freight. FOB Changzhou and CIF terms are both available. All goods are packed in export-standard cartons with foam padding or wooden crates for heavy items. A commercial invoice, packing list, and COA are provided with every shipment. For large OEM orders, customized packaging and private-label options are available upon request.

  • Q: When should I choose a metal junction box over a plastic one?
  • A: Choose metal when you need impact resistance (forklift traffic, machinery vibration), EMI shielding, fire resistance, or high continuous operating temperatures above 60 °C. Plastic is lighter and lower cost where those factors are not critical.
  • Q: What is the difference between 304 and 316 stainless steel junction boxes?
  • A: 304 SS provides excellent corrosion resistance for most outdoor and light chemical environments. 316 SS adds molybdenum, giving superior resistance to chlorides — use it for marine installations, salt spray environments, food and beverage plants, and applications involving chlorinated cleaning agents.
  • Q: Can metal junction boxes provide EMI shielding?
  • A: Yes. A properly earthed steel enclosure provides significant attenuation of electromagnetic interference. For demanding shielding requirements, specify fully welded seams and our earthing lug option, and ensure cable glands include a metallic bonding insert.
  • Q: What IP rating do your standard metal boxes carry?
  • A: Standard catalog boxes are available in IP54, IP65, and IP66 variants. The gasket material and lid hardware differ between ratings. Specify the required IP rating at the time of order.
  • Q: Can you supply custom-size metal junction boxes?
  • A: Yes. We manufacture custom enclosures from 100 pieces with tooling typically ready in 2–3 weeks. Send us your internal layout requirements (terminal strip size, cable entry positions, DIN rail length) and we will design the box around your needs.
