High Torque Spline Shaft

A high torque spline shaft has a series of ridges or teeth machined along its length that mesh with a corresponding splined hub, allowing torque to be transmitted while permitting axial sliding or fixed engagement. Fenglan produces both involute spline shafts (DIN 5480 / ISO 4156) and parallel-key (straight) spline shafts (DIN 5461–5463), rolled or milled to drawing.

Spline rolling produces a work-hardened tooth surface with superior fatigue resistance compared to milling, making it the preferred method for high-cycle torque applications. Our rolling capacity covers modules 0.5–5 and major diameters up to 80 mm.

Payment & Shipping

We accept T/T (bank transfer), L/C at sight, PayPal (samples), and Western Union. A 30% deposit is required to confirm production, with the balance paid before shipment.

Standard lead time is 7–15 business days for regular orders; prototype samples ship within 3–5 days. We ship worldwide via DHL, FedEx, UPS, sea freight (FCL/LCL), and air freight. FOB Changzhou and CIF terms are both available. All goods are packed in export-standard cartons with foam padding or wooden crates for heavy items. A commercial invoice, packing list, and COA are provided with every shipment. For large OEM orders, customized packaging and private-label options are available upon request.

Q: What is the difference between involute and straight splines?
A: Involute splines have curved tooth flanks (like a gear tooth) that self-center the hub, handle higher torques, and are more forgiving of minor misalignment. Straight (parallel) splines are simpler to inspect and are preferred for light-torque sliding applications where exact centering is less critical.

Q: Can spline shafts handle both torque transmission and axial sliding?
A: Yes. Involute splines are specifically designed for this — the hub can slide axially along the shaft while remaining fully engaged in torque transmission. This is common in automotive driveshafts and PTO shafts.

Q: What material do you recommend for high-cycle fatigue applications?
A: 20CrMnTi case-hardened steel is our standard recommendation for high-cycle drive applications. The carburized case (HRC 58–62) resists wear while the tough core absorbs shock loading.

Q: Can you supply mating splined hubs as well?
A: Yes. We can machine the matching hub or sleeve to the same drawing specification, ensuring a verified mating fit before shipment.
