Double-Level Terminal Block Overview

A double-level terminal block — also called a two-tier or stacked terminal block — houses two independent clamping points vertically within a single housing width. This doubles the wiring density compared to a standard feed-through block, making it the go-to solution when DIN rail length inside the panel is at a premium but the number of circuits cannot be reduced.

Fenglan's double-level range covers 0.5 mm² to 16 mm² per level, with current ratings from 10 A to 76 A, in screw-clamp and spring-cage variants. Each level has its own independent 4 mm test point and accepts individual marker strip tags, so the two circuits on one block are individually documented and testable.

Application

Double-level terminal blocks are the standard choice wherever panel height is fixed but wiring density must increase:

  • Compact PLC and DCS marshalling panels — doubling I/O wiring density in the same rail length — critical for retrofits where the enclosure cannot be enlarged
  • Machine tool control cabinets — organizing tool-change, coolant, and axis wiring in a compact servo cabinet
  • Building automation field controllers — cramped DIN rail space on flush-mounted BMS controllers where a full-size panel is not possible
  • Process analyzer cabinets — separating sample-line signal wiring from power wiring in a double-level arrangement on a single rail
  • Aerospace ground support equipment — space-constrained avionics test rigs requiring high I/O density
  • Elevator and lift control panels — safety circuit and drive wiring in the limited panel space of a traction machine room
  • Rail vehicle wiring bays — high-density wiring in rolling stock underframe junction boxes

  • No cross-wiring risk — physical separation of upper and lower entries prevents the most common dense-panel wiring error — wrong-level insertion
  • Spring-cage option for lower levels — lower-level spring-cage eliminates the need to reach past upper-level wiring to tighten a screw — significant time saving in dense panels
