Introduction

CNC milling is a subtractive process where a rotating multi-flute cutter traverses across a fixed (or indexed) workpiece to produce flat surfaces, slots, pockets, contours, and complex 3D profiles. Unlike turning, milling excels at prismatic and asymmetric geometries — housings, brackets, frames, plates, and manifolds that could not be produced on a lathe.

Fenglan's vertical machining centers (VMCs) support 3-axis and 4-axis milling with a maximum work envelope of 600 × 500 × 400 mm. Indexed 4th-axis capability allows compound-angle features and cylindrical pocket patterns without re-fixturing, keeping part accuracy high and cycle time short. All programs are generated in CAM software directly from customer 3D models, eliminating manual G-code errors and ensuring that even complex free-form surfaces are milled accurately.

  • Heat Sinks: High-aspect-ratio fin arrays and vapor-chamber base plates milled from 6061 aluminum for power electronics thermal management.

  • Prototype Mechanical Parts: Complex geometry prototypes for design validation when casting tooling is not yet justified.
